Contexte

There is now a growing consensus that strengthening the rights of forest communities is a more effective way of protecting tropical forests and fighting poverty. Across the region, legal reforms now offer such an opportunity, notably in the Democratic Republic of Congo where an innovative law on community forests paves the way for communities to secure and manage traditional lands in perpetuity.
